Lumia 520 Screen Problem

I got a 520 for my daughter last week and she came to me with it on Friday and said there was a problem with the screen - some areas of the touchscreen were unresponsive e.g. the numbers 1 and 2 were not useable when in the phone dialer. If it were that simple, I wouldn't mind, but there was a deep crack on the screen on the opposite side, down the rhs of the screen, directly opposite where the touchscreen was unresponsive. Now she swears blind that the screen was unresponsive before she dropped it, causing the crack, but I have doubts about that.

Anyway, any physical damage invalidates the warranty, so I am looking at a home repair. Question is - is it just a new digitizer I need ? or would I need the LCD also ? I suspect it's just the digitizer as the LCD seems to be working ok. I saw one here, but it's way cheaper that others on ebay etc. so I suspect that it's just the digitizer and not the glass.
