Weight training with a hand injury

    Hi All
Can anybody offer up some advice for me? I have a hand injury (De Quervain's Tenosynovitis) and it's preventing me doing my usual weight training. I normally go for a run and then do weights at home using dumbbells and a 24kg kettlebell. Running obviously isn't a problem but I'm really annoyed that the weight training is suffering because of this injury. Can anybody offer any specific exercises or creative ideas as to how I'd maintain upper body weight training without the use of my right hand...???
    Cheers

Use a barbell instead of dumbbell and see how you go.

I was told by the hand therapist and the hand surgeon to steer clear of barbells, as weight training can be a cause of De Quervain's. Bar squats seemed to be the worst exercise for me. Had to have surgery on mine unfortunately (cortisone and 6 weeks of splinting didn't work), also had a ganglion cyst in my wrist, so was quite restricted in what I could do. Starting in the gym again now. :)

    Take it easy.

Ah, fair enough. I'd thought there would be more trouble from DBs but evidently not.
