Hi, do all the deck lighting sets that come in little packs always need to be used with a plug rather than direct to mains?
The single deck lights are expensive and a little bigger than I was looking for.
We only need about 8 or so and want them small and ideally on a mains switch rather than a plug.

Yes, you can get small mains type deck lights, the most common type are about the 30-40 mm and are a sealed led type and come pre-wired with approx 2 mtr of flex.
if you require a deck light that you wish to be able to change out the lamp, you will have to opt for the larger sizes.
Eclipse and luminux are two brands that come to mind.
