    Hi.

Looking to get insurance on a 2001 1.4L volkswagen golf as a 25 year old male learner driver. Best I've been quoted so far is about €1,000 from Britton Insurance with a (€750 excess) after also trying Chill, Axa, Aviva, 25PLUS and AA.

Just wondering has anyone dealt with Britton before and what are they like to deal with?

Can anyone recommend anyone else to try or is this the best quote I'm likely to get?

    Thanks

Britton's gave me the 2nd best quote (if you don't count boxymo)

The best quote I got was from coverinaclick.

Hi I got the best quote off Britton aswell in January for 2002 1.2L VW Polo at €900 and Im 24 female learner driver, they also insured my mam and dad to drive it and they said they will give me a discount when I pass the test which will hopefully happen soon! :) Found them very good to deal with! I also got really good quotes with Munster Group in Clare and First Ireland (I rang the Kildare Branch), so if you get better quotes with them ring back Britton and they might lower theirs!

I used them in the past with no problems. The only thing I would say is that I sometimes found it hard to get through and the lines go to voicemail with no call back ever transpiring. Had a bitdof a waitmto getwmy certificate of NCB. So quotes good, no issues with the product but not great customer follow up.

I've been insured through them for about four years now, have never had any issues or hassle with them whatsoever, other than that they love to make you fill in 20 million forms of their own invention, presumably in some kind of arse-covering exercise.

E.g. I once changed my car mid-policy. Not a problem, the premium actually came down, but they sent me out a form saying "I hereby declare that the car 06 D XXXX has been sold and is no longer in my posession or ownership."

Been driving 10 years at this stage and have changed my car 4 times, but never saw that with any other company/broker.

I'm with them right now, well Zurich through Britton.
Not a bother and cheapest by far for my car.

Britton ins is cheap but make sure you read the policy if you have a claim they are a disaster ....

They were the cheapest for my first insurance at 19. Had no NCB or anything and had never been on the road. They were extremely friendly and helpful and I always enjoyed doing business with them. My renewal the next year with a full licence was a bit higher than other insurers so I didn't go with them, but other than that they are great.

I'd ring around another few brokers/insures to see what they can do!!! Give Chill insurance a call.

I find they are very cheap for insurance but their customer service is horrible to deal with. Took the policy out a month ago and have still no disk as they keep sending me different forms to fill in. I have also made a claim through them and haven't really heard anything about it, apart from one call to say the other insurance company probably won't pay out, but "sure send us a quote and we'll send it on to them."

I totally agree with you they are terrible to deal with. I closed my account before policy inception and theyre trying to add on unrelated fees. Im bringing them ti onbudsman Stay well clear. Will update you any info.....go to another broker. ...rob

This thread is from 2013... best not to post in older threads if you can avoid it.

Also, there's an insurance forum now:
