position of new gas meter

    Hi,

does the position of a gas meter matter i.e. relative to the position of the boiler?
The meter, as agreed with BGN, will be placed on the front wall of the property, with the boiler situated to the rear of the property on the opposite side of the house, about 10m apart. Is this a problem, and if so, what might be the potential issues arising from it?

    Thank you

The meter and boiler are usually not contiguous. Read this very carefully the BIG issue is to ensure gas pipeworks are protected from accidental damage.

Distance is an issue between gas meter & appliances, but is overcome easily.
The greater the distance the greater the pipe size must be, otherwise the gas pressure, i.e. working pressure, will be affected. For Natural Gas the maximum pressure loss from the meter to the appliance is 1 millibar.
Whoever is installing the pipe work should calculate the size of the pipe work in relation to the kw gas input of each appliance in the system. It would be a standard calculation for any decent RGI.
