Does anyone know what's the best way of getting rid of an old mattress?

Mungret recycle centre is hardly an option here, I'd say?

They probably take them, it's €20 per mattress in most depots that take them. Check their website to see the list of what they take.

There very expensive out there. €1 a litre for used oil. You would nearly buy it new for that price. Bet there's many a litre gone down the drain with that price

I'm nearly certain that Mungret take them - I was there about a month ago and I remember seeing them there.

If you're getting a new mattress delivered, some places will take back the old one for a minimal fee.

I've seen mattresses left there opposite the electrical good bins..... googling gives this

    Mattress + Box
    Spring Double
    40 kg
    €15.00

    Mattress + Box
    Spring Single
    30 kg
    €10.00

Not bad, they are €20 for a double in Clare, not sure if base is included!

could be open to haggling if there's no box spring and end up just being €5 if it goes in the boot of the car.
