Hoping to buy 2nd hand car from small garage,not a main dealer,garage has good rep,is 2008 car,dealer said on phone they give 6 month warranty.....just wondering is that about the avg in the trade for a warranty length? Heard that main dealers,big garages more likely/inclined to give 1 year warranty on older cars.…

Hoping to buy 2nd hand car from small garage,not a main dealer,garage has good rep,is 2008 car,dealer said on phone they give 6 month warranty.....just wondering is that about the avg in the trade for a warranty length?
Heard that main dealers,big garages more likely/inclined to give 1 year warranty on older cars.
Appreciate any answers/views.

Most garages who are offering 1 year warranties will be outsourcing the warranty to a third party warranty company. So the cost of that warranty will be built into the purchase price of the car.

There is nothing stopping you from taking out such a warranty yourself if you want to. So don't rule out a car just because it has less "dealer" warranty included.
