Well, Wiki tells us that Baume et Mercier has been around since 1918 - it was just Baume up to then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baume_et_Mercier

It might be an original Baume piece - the experts here will want clear pics of the movement, and esp. of any serial numbers etc etc

    Nice watch.

Yes, a picture of the movement is what is needed here including any hall marks. Looks like a 1930s watch at first glance, but the detail will be revealed once we see the inside.
I have an 1870's Baume and Mercier piece at home, housed in a gold case. It still works a treat.

What are you trying to find out?
    Value?
    Age?
    Other?

I'm looking to find out what model it is and how old it is. When i wind it up it works and i timed the second hand, it appears to be working smoothly. I'm having trouble to open the back of it though and naturally I don't want to damage the piece.

I'll try again this evening to get it open.

I have searched google images using different terms but haven't come across many of this style with just "Baume" on the face. Also, the vast majority that I've seen use Roman numerals rather than numbers. It's a lovely looking piece I'm very interested to find out anything I can!

Ok, just be very careful. You do not want to scratch it.
Finding an exact replica on google can be very difficult as some of these watches would have had a very limited manufacturing run.
But the movements would have been used over several different models and so is more easily researched.

If you do open it, please do so in a dry room with all the doors closed, no dust in the air etc....and keep the back open for as short a time as possible.
