Hello guys im involved in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was pondering what exactly would happen if the following were applied to their fullest
this a kimura shoulder lock the arm is twisted at the shoulder joint

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ_YpowP5ONG8vfLI6NKvwV6MqhWAMPAnjJmdGVFhVsV6eE0qTM2Q

the second image is a choke whereby the carotid arteries are prevented from flowing resulting in unconciousness, how dangerous is this ? and would being repeatedly choked out (4 times a week) be detrimental to ones health?

Yes this could be detrimental to ones health!

Leaving the physical broken/dislocated bones and muscle, tendon, ligament tears or ruptures aside depriving the brain of oxygen can lead to brain damage.

But I'm pretty sure you already know this

question one is obvious. I suspect the linked photo is from a mma fight so maybe a little different from bjj?

The second question is more difficult. In theory very dangerous to have even temporary occlusion or even pressure on the carotids but these types of submissions are relatively common in judo and bjj......so the question really is how often do injuries /ill effects occur in those sports. Do a google scholar or pubmed search or ask your instructor. ....who proba ly has much more practical experience of the sport

Dislocated shoulder or nasty muscular injury for the first one. Could also have the potential for a nerve (brachial plexus) injury.

Any trauma to an artery can potentially cause a dissection, which could potentially cause a stroke. Could stroke even without a dissection if compressed for long enough, though I suspect this would be unlikely because you'd likely pass out before you'd stroke.
