FAS course eligibility

    Just a few questions!

My wife is a Non-EU national and undertook 9 months training for hair and beauty before joining me (EU national) in Ireland. She is currently employed carrying out seasonal work (unrelated to hair and beauty). Since she will become unemployed shortly she was thinking of signing on so she can access a hair or beauty FAS course. The problem is that she doesnt have a Junior Cert or equivalent.

    Therefore:

    1) How strict are FAS regarding applicants needing to have a Junior/Leaving Cert for their courses?
    2) Could she be eligible since she has had 9 months training (in lieu of the Junior/Leaving Cert)?
    3) Since she could study for her Junior/Leaving Cert online (v expensive though) would she need a few Certs or would one suffice?
    4) If she was to go for an internship rather than a FAS course would she need Junior/Leaving Certs?
    5) How long would she need to be on the dole to apply for either a FAS course or internship?

We would rather not go down the road of going on the dole so my wife can finish her training, but we don't have sufficient family income for her to go to college.

I look forward to hearing from you shortly.

I know for definite that for some FAS courses you dont need a junior certificate as i am doing one but i can't speak for all of the courses, she should be fine.
