ix35 vs captiva?

    Hi there

Thanks to a few people here a few weeks ago I managed to save 1500 on a gearbox so thought I'd try my luck again!

Looking at changing to a more family friendly car. My wife is keen on a SUV style car for ease of putting kids in and out. We've driven both the Hyundai ix35 (she loved) and the Chevrolet Captiva (I loved and she really liked).

Anyone have any experience of either?

Obviously with fuel prices the way they are fuel economy is a bonus, are diesels really that more economical in cars like this from 2011 models up?

Any suggestions of other similar cars that are worth considering (in that price bracket!) much appreciated!

Sister in law has the Antara, it is the opel version of the Capitiva. She hates it, can't wait to change to a IX35. Heavy on juice, gave more problems than worth mentioning. I seen an 08 Capitiva going for around €7k recently.

Have a look at the Kia Sportage too, it's the sister car of the ix35. I wouldn't bother with the Captiva anyway.

Wow! Thanks guys for the responses.

Looking at reviews under opel/vauxhall antara it's been slated everywhere so I think that's off our list!

Absolutely, the Kia sportage is on the list to check out as is the Nissan X-trail...I've heard great things about it even though it's not the best looking car in the world!

What is the budget and how many miles a year will you be covering?

    Any special requirements?
