I'm stuck on a question here. To fly across an International Border on a Commercial Operation what do you need? I know you need a flight plan but are there any other specific documents needed? Passports? Prior notice to Customs/Police/Authorities? I heard General Declarations were phased out?

No idea, but I was on the first ever QUANTAS flight over mainland China. Everybody on board got a free hat to commemorate the flight.

In my experience, you'll need lots of hats. Hope others will be more helpful!

I think I still have the hat somewhere...

    :)

Depends which borders but typically you must have arranged overflight permits for the territories on your route.Gen Decs are still very much a prerequisite.

just to be clear, if the hat said "QANTAS" it was correct, not a bad chinese ripoff.

Does that apply for the EU though?

We have non EU pilots flying intra EU routes. They require Gen Decs.
