Fulcrum Racing 5's Should I Return?

So in less than a year and 5000 ish kilometers, my rear wheel on my new Fulcrums has buckled 3 times and needed tuning. Is this to be expected or is there possibly a manufacturing flaw with the wheel? I'm around 84kg so weight should not be a factor. I'm considering returning to supplier but as its online will probably be a bit of hassle. But that's what you get for not buying in your lbs ;-)

after 5000km its a tough call, its a lot of miles, itd be different if it was only 500 but theres no harm in trying, email them and see what they say, if you have spares to keep you going then send them if they want to look at them... but bear in mind if wiggle etc blame fulcrum and not their wheel builder then you could be waiting several months for an opinion nevermind a replacement. my guess is after your first buckle the wheel wasnt repaired correctly but theres every chance your wheels have a weak spot, it happens and most respectable manufacturers will replace as a matter of course and for their own r&d.

Thanks for that, few good points, I'd say 5000 is the max I've done. Will cross reference my Strava with when I got them. Yeah don't really have spares and haves couple of events coming up so can't really do without them. Need to get them repaired again so I'll see what the bike shop thinks but am conscious of the fact I bought them online and they won't be too forthcoming with helpful advice.

I think your almost at the stage of replacing the rear wheel, the cost of constant repairs will be greater then cost of new wheel. It's not the ideal situation but thats just how its going to work out

I certainly hope this is not the case. Just checked my Strava I have actually only done 3500k on them. Like monkeyslayer said one of the repairs I got done may have not been great.

I've read before (and been advised here) that once buckled the wheel becomes weaker and more prone to further buckling.

I'd have a go at getting replacement. It make they time though
Buy a fulcrum 5 back wheel now, if you get replacement, whenever that is, sell it.

It will keep you rolling snd make work out at no cost or very little

That doesn't seem much distance unless they've had a few bad bangs. I'm a similar weight to yourself and have about 9k done on some pretty crappy roads on a pair of racing 7s with no issues. Looking at the Fulcrum Warranty FAQ I'd say your chances of getting a free replacement are very low unless you can somehow prove the product was defective when you bought it, but always worth trying.
