Hey guys, does anyone else find it hard to find a quality golf pro to improve their game.

I'm living in Waterford and play off 7 and I am planning to get lessons and do a lot of range work for the winter.

I'm willing to travel as far as it takes. My goal is to get to 4 next year so a lot of work needed.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks guys :)

I have to say John Kelly in St Margrets is awesome.. He has been coaching Robbie Cannon the last while and he has done wonders with my swing in a short timeframe (though the new baby has killed all progress)

I cannot recommend highly enough and he is also a bang on guy to boot

How much is a lesson with JK?

robbie left john ages ago to work with seamus duffy up north. Really wouldnt agree with john kelly as a recommendation at all, far too tpi orientated no real focus on the ball

Robbie himself is a TPI instructor so must be something in it.

I've gone to John - very good , but can see the point here.

Ive been for a few lessons with Sean Cotter in Mount Juliet and have found him excellent. A scratch golfer in my club has been going to him for years and swears he's the best around....

Well he was working with him before the amature championship. So by ages you must mean weeks then?

I can only give my experience with him tbh and it was very good. Nothing to technical as it was all about releasing the hands and understanding my ba flight and how it happened. Nothing scientific that confused me as I would be very much a feel player

I heard he is good alright, might check the cost of a lesson.

Is he very technical or does he use simple drills or what approach does he use?

Have ya tried Derry Kiely at all?
I found him great and reasonable.

I would agree with JK - you won't go wrong

Also john Langan is leopards town is good as is dave Kearney in grange

    Paul cuddy is also recommended

Brendan McDaid has his fans - and would be near you in Carlow but for me I found him a little too technical

Had 5 lessons with JK and the change to me was phenomenal.
Even after 1 there was a huge improvement after just pointing out my bad habits.

brendan mcdaid in spawell templeogue. very good at making you understand your swing. won't try and change anything. i find him excellent. good value also. i live in kilkenny. he gives lessons in naas driving range also.

    Is that not counter productive?

I think that Mickelson mean that he doesn't try and impose his idea of the perfect swing on you.

Some pros stick video footage on of Adam Scott swinging the club and try and get you to replicate it (which is nuts).

Others work with what you have (which I like).
