    hi,

sorry if this is in the wrong place! I was wondering how you would go about bringing a irish reg car to the uk. I will be moving to near luton in January for 18 months, if not longer and i cant afford to buy a new car!

It is a 2005 Nissan Micra if that makes any difference!

Not worth it. You have alot of paper work to fill out. You also have to get the speedo changed to miles.

If your a student you can drive it on Irish plates.

Flog it here. The money will buy you a much better car in the UK.

how much do you think it would cost to bring it over?

how much would i get for a 2005 nissan micra 1.2 with 35000 miles on the clock?

It costs £50 to reregister the car in the UK. You can bring it back when you finish and reregister it here for free.

Cars like that are much the same price here and there.

Cars are cheaper the further north you go.

It's a PITA if you have km clocks. I tried it but to get it done properly you'll pay through the nose. Flog it here and buy something over there.

It is like all uses of obscure abreviations. It is a 'pain in the ass'.

I know a guy who got a 35k porche in UK, moved to Ireland for a year (and got car replayed then moved back to UK, replated car again and immediately sold it!

I pinged him on Facebook and asked him why he didn't sell in Ireland... his response "why, what difference would that make?". Oops.
