    I read somewhere that man utd's first game of the season will be available free to air on sky sports. My question is, does this just apply to the uk as I have heard, or will we be able to take advantage of this ?

    Yeh Ireland is included;

    “It’s our biggest ever season of Premier League football and we’re inviting over one million Irish households to enjoy the opening day,” says Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis.

    It won't be free to air in Ireland, no. If you have any Sky subscription, though, you will be able to watch it on Sky 2 - not free obviously.

    Strange one this. You've linked to a thread in which you included a direct quote from Sky stating the match will not be FTA on satellite yet suggest it is :confused:
    To celebrate the first day of the Premier League season and Sky Sports' new line up of football, programmes from Sky Sports 1 will replace the regular programming on Sky 2 (on Sky and other pay TV services) and Pick TV (on Freeview and You View) on Saturday 17th August.

    It will be FTV on satellite for Sky subscribers. What part do you not understand?

    Now, what part of any of that do you not understand? :rolleyes:

    Or do you not know the difference between FTA and FTV?

    BTW by definition a subscriber is paying to view so, no, not even Sky subscribers will be viewing it for free, but that's just nitpicking.

    And one final point, there will be nothing anywhere FTA or FTV on Sky Sports - to answer the OP.

    Yes, it will.

    And to make you aware, Sky Sports 1 programming will be simulcast on Sky 2 from midday - so there will also be a Championship match and Soccer Saturday - where you can watch some men watching football.
