So a guy I was chattin to last night said I was wrong to do this.. I lost my certificate for a course I did and they wanted 170euro to reissue it. I got a fake one made for 30euro with all the same info. Right or wrong? I think it's fine.

I'm reporting you to the certificate police!

As long as you have done the course, its right. Having to pay e170 just to prove you have done it is a bit of a joke.

Moral Forgery is a half decent name for a band though. I'm stealing it, and no e30 you spend is gonna take that away from me.

I think it's wrong and if you were fine with it you would not be asking for approval.
What happens if you get caught ?

She's asking whether it's OK or not because she was surprised to hear someone make such a big deal of it. If applying for positions I always send a photocopy of my degree, so I will always be sending a 'fake'. On top of that the institute will have records of you attending and your graduation so this isn't an issue.

I think it's fine personally. You've actually done the course, you have the knowledge you're claiming to have, the certificate only reflects that. Charging 170 quid for a replacement piece of paper is a bit much.

She is a he unless its a combination of both, sorry ads.
You can back up your photocopy with the original, my opinion why bother getting a fake cert when you can get the real one.

    ...because it costs €140 more?

What's the moral issue here, exactly? I think you're just thinking forgery = wrong without actually why it's actually viewed this way. I'll tell you: forging a certificate is seen as morally wrong in cases where the forger has not actually earned it. They are putting themselves on an equal footing in the jobs market with people who have actually worked to earn their qualification, and they are portraying a false image of their abilities to prospective employers.

The OP is forging a copy of a certificate for a qualification he has legitimately earned. The only immoral thing I can see here is the institution trying to extort silly amounts of money out of people for a fancy piece of paper.

I have an idea what certificate it is. 170 to reissue it? The fooking bastids. No, it's not wrong if you've done the course. That fella is being a big, fat goody two shoes.

Well I personally don't have a problem with it, but I've lost a few certs in my time and I'm not paying to get them re-issued, just gave the number of the administrator who confirmed I did and passed the course.

Not enough info to answer really .

Depends on what the cert is requiredfor . If it was related to a fire arm or somthing that is nessary to show your cert everytime you practice ie medicine or the like then the original or recert should be required ,

If it was for a food hygine for a restraunt then you should have the proper paper in place .

Whereas if it was an ECDL cert hhhhmmmmm .

If its company related then you can claim it back through the company ,

The question is how much trouble would you be in for not having the cert ? How much trouble would you be in for having a forged document . Have you used a logo or company name without their permission .

Even the forgery seems slightly exorbitant given that NUI duplicate degrees cost €50

Youve done the course legit, so i wouldnt see anything wrong with it, sher how many places ask for the original document anyways, i always bring photocopies of my stuff instead, wouldnt worry tbh if a place really wanted that specific doc you could always get it then, otherwise i wouldnt bother
