Probably be another 50 or 60 years before anything like that comes to Dublin. Also, it'd cost a fair whack to build, and at the moment the government/county council is so stingy that they won't build proper cycling paths and facilities, or repave the ones that are in bits.

Yeah, it's a really great idea and seems to work flawlessly. As said above, will be a long time before something like this would be built in this country.

How much would you be willing to pay for such a service?

    According to that guy's blog:
For students it costs 1,300 yen to park for a month and 1,800 yen for the rest of the folks.
Folks can park and retrieve their bicycles an unlimited amount of times for this price.

€15 a month for unlimited parking seems an absolute steal for this service. Because it's Ireland, you could probably multiply that cost a couple of times. I think I'd be content paying between 30 and 40 euro a month, higher or lower depending on the proximity to work etc.

I'd expect it to be subsidised by the government and not completely private. It should be used to encourage people to cycle, not add cost to their journey. Surely the amount of VAT we give to the government through our numerous bike purchases should be used on cycling facilities not wasted.

I love how, on the way back up, it's transformed from a white mountain bike, to a red commuter bike! :D

    Pretty cool alright though.
