Employer won't give me holiday pay

I just want to know if he's right. I've read the page on Citizen's information but I can't see anything about this.

He claims that since I've only been working for him since January that I'm not entitled to holiday pay.

When I insisted that my friends who work in pubs, shops etc. got theirs and that I read about it online he brushed me off saying that they must work for multinationals and can afford it. What difference does this make? When I kept insisting he told me he'd ask his accountant but since that day 2 weeks ago, he hasn't gotten back to me on the matter.

I've just started my second year of work there but this man has only owned the business since January.
I work on average 2/3 days a week between 10-20 hours (it varies a lot) if this helps.

I just want to know if I should let it drop and if I'm wrong or he is.

Have a look at NERA, but he is having you on. Even if you worked 1 day a week you are still entitled to holiday pay or a percentage on top of your usual wage.

    Hi,
He is totally in the wrong, I think...I am working for company for almost 6 months and already accumulated 11 days holidays. Full-time workers normally entitled to 1.6 days per months,part-time you are normally entitled to 8% of total hours worked. What does your contract say on this?Should stipulate your entitlements on there...

Yeah, that's not legal. He is entitled to allow you to only use what you have accrued to date and to some degree dictate periods which would be better for holidays.

For example, say you started on 1 January and you wanted to take 10 days in march, he can say no. You would have only accrued 4 days, so he doesn't need to let you. He could make you wait until July or August. Though most reasonable employers would allow it.

It doesn't matter how long he owns the company. You as an employee are entitled to the holidays. If the previous owner didn't pay them the current guy is still liable. He bought the company and it's obligations to the employees.
