Lost my driver's licence

I usually keep my driver's licence in my car but I took it out today because I was going into Lidl to buy wine for my grandmother. I'm 25. I had it in my back pocket and forgot to put it back in my car and when I was out walking my dog I must've dropped it not far from my house. As I was coming back a couple stopped me and told me they found and left it with a neighbour. They weren't clear on which neighbour it was, they just said they were on the left so I assumed it was the house to the left of mine. Anyway, I knocked straight in there and they claimed not to have it. I also tried a few other neighbours but they haven't got it. All I can do now is wait and hope whoever does have it will return it to me, but its freaking me out. I don't know many people on this road and I keep thinking of the worst case scenario.

It freaks me out that someone has my information. My sister advised me to give it until tomorrow morning and then report it missing to the Gardai. But would that really do anything? I guess you could say I'm afraid of identity theft. Surely whoever has it would've dropped it straight in. It's very obvious that everyone is home. I also can't understand why the couple who found it didn't just drop it in my letter box, my address is on the licence. I'm not looking for solutions, just reassurance really. I hate losing stuff.

The couple are right now on a flight to Hawaii, paid for by their new credit card in your name. They also have a load of spending money to have some fun.

Only messing, it will be dropped into your house within the next 2 hours. That's my prediction anyway. The couple didn't look dodgy did they?

Pretty sure its impossible for any identity theft to happen from somebody simply taking your licence.

Worst case scenario: Some underage teen tries to use it as an ID to get into a nightclub.

Not much can be done with your driving licence to be honest. It will probably show up and if it doesn't just report it lost/stolen and apply for a new one.

A lot of the time just having the name, address an date of birth can be useful. If it's an old style license then it could be opened up and the picture changed with someone elses.

Call into each neighbours house that you can this evening.

Then report it lost if you don't get it back.

Not sure what the 'personal issue' is here..?

I'd recommend a strong dose of calm down. Either (a) somebody will drop it in, or (b) they won't and you'll get a replacement.

If a lost license is the worst that happens you this year, I'd say you were having a pretty good year.

    ;)

Give your local gardai station a call now. They'll have someone behind the desk. They'll probably tell you not to worry, and contct thaem again if it doesn't show up in the next day or two.

And if something does, at lest the call is logged.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.
