    Hi all,
My headset bearings need replacing but they're completely seized to the frame. I was wondering if anyone has any tricks/advice on how to get them out. Its a pinarello fp1 and ive read in other places that the bearing are notoriously tight fit but no-one says anything about how they get them out! went down to my LBS and she just said ''good luck with that'. doesnt bode well... Any advice much appreciated
    Cheers
    Matt

PS the amount of crap that came out of the headset when i opened it up was shocking. its probably been corroding away happily for ages. note to self: clean headset every year

    Same thing happened me.
Can you get the ball bearings etc out?
I polished the bit that was stuck in the frame until it became shiny again and bought a similar headset to what I'd removed and replaced all the other parts. I Applied ample grease and it worked well.
From the sounds of yours it could be a lot worse though.
Lemon juice etc was recommended on some sites but didnt seem to work at all!

Try get your hands on a spray called plusgas, it's an oil like wd 40 but it's got a catalyst in it that seems to dissolve rust, just dowse the area in it and leave for a while, then get out the hammer:D. You can pick it up in DIY shops at about €6 a can.
