Emergency Tax

I am starting a new job on 26.08.2013, but my last pay from previous employer will be 30.08.2013, hence I won't get the P45 until after this.

Can I avoid paying emergency tax by calling the revenue and providing info(PPS company reg number)?

    Thanks in advance?

Yup, get on to revenue straight away and get them to issue your tax credits certificate to your new employer, you'll need your new employers registered number I think

Ahh, if you do that, you may pay extra tax in your old job, because there won't be any tax credits there.

IMHO you're better off to wait, the amount of emergency tax in the first few weeks is very low, it's only in week 4-5 that it gets ridiculously high. And your 2nd pay in your new job will sort out any tax overpayment.
