Advice on Setting up boxing sessions for youth project

    Hi

My name is Eoghan Brunkard, I’m the secretary for a local youth project. We conducted a survey with our clients and found that around a dozen of the kids aged between 15 and 18 wanted to get involved some form of boxing.

We have two options as I can see it, we can approach already established boxing clubs in the area and see if we can get our kids in for a couple of sessions a week, or we can make use of the local hall and try to run something ourselves.

This is all new territory to me, so I was wondering if anyone in the know could help me with the following questions.

    1. Money is a massive issue for us with cutbacks across the board, does anyone know of a place where we could get our hands on cheap equipment?

    2. What kind of equipment would be required if we were to set up ourselves?

    3. What kind of entry fee would we be looking at per child if we did approach an established club?

    4. Is there any more general advice anyone could help us with?

Thanks for any help, it’s greatly appreciated!

Doing Boxing without experts teaching you is both dangerous and silly, and i don't mean the sparring, I mean kids breaking their hands, snapping out their joints etc-Boxing clubs are very cheap and worth looking into, otherwise just leave it as you'll do more harm than good.

When we were planning on doing it ourselves we were going to have trainers hired out for the sessions.

You're entirely right, We would never proceed with something like this unless there were professionals there.

good stuff, but this route will be far more expensive than going to a club..
