just got an email saying that Ballyvaughan Bay Hop are trying again in September to get a regular ferry service going across the bay... it'd be a great service to have, hope they get the support.

Might have been an idea to try and do it in tourist season when there are tons of potential customers as opposed to in September??

Totally agree, when we had the very hot weather it would have been a goldmine even for day trips across the bay, cant see much happening in September holidays over kids back at school, either way I wish them well.

Actually that is something lacking in Salthill is trips on the bay, many years ago Dolans from the Claddagh operated every summer from the pier opposite the Galway Bay Hotel, they had two large cream boats and as well as trips on the Bay the done trips around the Liners when they were there.

Yeah - except that the timetable and pricing structure they're running is pretty much focussed at commuters, not tourists.

Still the amount of tourists heading that way would still have given them a hell of a lot more potential customers.

the service seems to be going ahead tomorrow for two weeks, hope we get some decent calm weather to give it a go!

don't know but the boat is limited to 12 passengers so better off booking I'd say. there's a mobile number on the booking page of the website so maybe if you're within short distance of the docks you could ring up before departure and see if there's spare space (no shows etc.), they might knock a few punts off just to fill the seats.
