Anyone upgraded a MacBook Pro by removing the optical drive and putting an SSD in? If so, any recommended kits?

    I used these

and put the SSD in the old HDD space and moved the old HDD to the optical bay and then use the DVD ROM enclosure to create an external DVD drive. All works perfectly. I am using a 256GB OCZ Octane SATA3 drive.

How did you connect the old DVD ROM enclosure to your laptop?

It becomes an external DVD drive so you just connect it by USB like any other external DVD drive. Works fine. The website above sell both the enclosure and the mount for the SSD to fit in the HDD bay
