Hi, I've an 02 Opel vectra sold by mcchesneys in monaghan. It was exported to the north. NI plates.

If VRT has already been paid, will it have to be paid again?

Is there possibly a change now in this law though given that you now get vrt back when you export a car.

You do if you apply for it and have the car inspected before exporting...

Some ex Dublin Bus vehicles which were exported to the UK and imported back to Ireland got their original reg back. However, some others got a different reg - they're going around in Cork on 95-C plates rather than their original 95-D plate.

Yep, they take the first €500. Import vrt and export vrt are different amounts too, conveniently.

    How is that possible?
Online system shows the same prices.

I dont understand this €500 admin charge for repayment of VRT. How can this be allowed by the EU? Surely it should be the same for importing a car and paying VRT, Can we charge them 500€ admin charge:D
