Just noticed this evening on an 06 Astra 1.4 we have there is power steering fluid leak, I couldnt see exactly where its leaking from until its bright tomorrow but I think both wishbone areas are fairly wet from it

So question is would I be looking at a new/used steering rack or can these be services at all? Maybe this is a common thing on Astras?

Buy the stop leak fluid in a motor factors. Worth a try for €15 instead of a rack and if it doesn't work they give you your money bk

I got one years ago from Traynors up north.

    Maybe give them a call.

I never trust any of that quick fix stuff, if there was a quick fix you'd never need to replace anything.

Do not use this sh1t. I had a leak in my steering rack and used it. It actually made it worse and I never got a refund!

those astras can be problematic alright for power steering leaks internally, i've used driveshaft services in dublin to get reconditioned racks, no problems so far.

Lads is there anyway of repairing the seals diy style or is it defo a replacement part needed?

If it needs replacement how complex a job is changing the rack?
