This is the reason why! Pay careful attention to Jobseeker's Allowance table. Full rate is payable when you reach 25.

Were you claiming JSB before, and have now switched to JSA? AFAIK, payment of JSB isn't age-related...

nope i've always been claiming JSA. i've been getting full rate since last year, its only when i signed off for the 6 weeks then signed back on - they reduced my payment to the 144 which i dont understand

    I'd query it then.

I would ssfely say it was a human error. You should never have gotten 188. Did it incresse when you turned 22?

A mistake was made and it was found out while you were away and then corrected. Count yourself lucky that you weren't assessed with an overpayment off 44 euro per week since your 22nd birthday.

Pretty much as the poster above said. Anyone who was already on the full rate when they implemented the age related rates kept the full rate, so you were on €188. However when you went to the UK you signed off, when you came back you signed on. So you are now subject to the new reduced age related rates.

This is incorrect. The OP signed off but only for 6 weeks so the repeat claim links to the previous claim and should be paid at the same rate unless there was a change in circumstances.

When you turned 22 the rate increase to €188 was incorrect, you should have gone to €144. I would assume that this was an error. You will still most likely be assessed with an overpayment of €44 per week from when you turned 22 until you closed your claim.
