Degree Certificate

Hi everyone, so I have just graduated from university and would like to know if anyone has any experience with obtaining their official degree certificate from their university early, as in before the conferring ceremony.

I'v been lucky enough to have been offered a job abroad and my employer needs my official parchment degree ASAP in order to begin the visa process. When I contacted my university for this they passed me on to the NUI office in Dublin who told me that they don't issue degree certs before the official conferring ceremony, which isn't until the end of October btw, and that I would have to use my transcript of results. However my employer has already informed me that this would not suffice and I need to give them my original degree.

Has anyone on here been in a similar situation and/or know a way to get your degree before the conferring ceremony? Any help would be much appreciated :)

University's don't issue degree certicates early although rare exceptions are made e.g a former classmate of mine was dying of cancer and they presented him with his degree before he died. Most reasonable employers accept transcripts with a university stamp. Certicates are easily forged , transcripts less so.

Sounds like you need to find a friend who can help to move the process along - standard channels aren't going to work.

Has your family got any contacts which might be useful?

what a bizzare response asking if family members have contacts? Do we live in a corrupt society where only those with connections can circumvent the system?

OP contact/meet with the head of your Department and explain the situations. They may able to help get the actual degree cert issued early.

If not get the head of your department to write a letter on headed college paper outlining your results, (included a stamped exam transcript) and explaining that the college does not issue actual degree certs until October.

Make sure he signs the letter with his college title and qualifications.
