Hi, I hope this is in the right place.

We just bought a new TV that has Saorview, and it seems we need an aerial to get the Saorview channels. My boyfriend reckons that our UPC box should do the trick. Will this work or do we have to get a separate aerial?

To receive the Saorview channels you'll require an aerial - http://www.saorview.ie/what-is-saorview/make-the-switch/

The UPC box will work as normal via scart/HDMI and UPC carries all the Saorview channels as part of its service if you're a subscriber.

So if you're happy with the UPC package of channels no need for an aerial for Saorview.

Thanks for that. We have UPC at the moment but we've been considering changing to Saorview to save some money. I guess we'll need to get an aerial. Thanks again.

You only get 8 channels with Soarview. Better off opting for freesat if you still want a good variety of Irish/UK channels if you are thinking of ditching Upc. You'll need a dish and receiver but after that theres no monthly charge.

You could test out an indoor/set top aerial from Argos and see how it goes. If it doesn't work you may be able to return it for a refund.

You can get cheap indoor aerials for anything between €2 and €50, in a lot of cases this will do the job depending on your location. Argos, Power City or any electrical retailer should have them.

You won't get any Irish channels with Freesat.
