lifetime ban i reckon for a serious offence

the thing that troubles me about anti-doping is

a few get busted while a blind eye may be turned in other directions

Why do you think that? Are you thinking of the reports that came out of Russia recently? Lacksidasical (sp?) attitudes on the part of some national governing bodies, a lack of consistency from one country to the next, yes, but favouritism?

On the original point, 4 years is better than 2.

Just read this. Sounds like the situation might be worse than I thought. I don't believe that Dick Pound has ever knowingly understated a position however he has made a huge contribution to fight against doping and I hope that he can continue to bring a big influence to bear.

there seems to be a conflict ongoing between wada and iaaf

wada said kenya and a few places were doping hotspots

iaaf said everything was rosy in the garden and made some announcements about big doping busts
