    Hi all,

I realise there may be threads on this already but the information seems out of date a lot of the time, does anyone have a good list of martial arts training classes in Carlow? Preferably something that runs all year not just after September either . Cheers.

Any idea if you'd prefer striking (punching/kicking) or grappling (groundwork/wrestling)?

If its stand up striking you're looking for then I'd recommend Carlow Muay Thai in Bagenalstown, I fought a few lads for this club and they knew their stuff.

Striking is definitely what I want, looking for something in Carlow Town if possible though thanks

    Hi kdh
The first 2 are wado ryu style karate, the final one is a wing chin style. There is also a krav maga class but I do not have any contact details, from memory it is advertised as extreme combat carlow
    Good luck with your training

    That's great info paxo thanks!

Looks like both Karate and Wing Chun only start in Sep, in the meantime I'll look into krav maga.

If anyone else has more feel free to contribute!

I would personally recommend this club as i fought under sean as a professional and got great results he is a legend in the sport himself and carried it through nicely into his teaching prowess unlike many coaches he spends time with every individual.

    Hi there,

Paul Ward runs the Krav Maga course in Carlow and they train every Monday evening from 6.30pm and on a Saturday morning starting at 7.30am in the Carlow hurling club. You can contact Paul via his mobile on 086 804 1820. If you've not come across it before Krav Maga focused heavily on street self defense, i.e. defending from weapon attacks, head locks etc.

My son goes to the Tae Kwon Do club mentioned above and the class starts at 12pm. Here's the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Carlow-Taekwon-Do-School/167853573300926?fref=ts

There's also a good Tae Kwon do club in Tullow that's been running for a few years.
