Luas - Closures and trams

A curious question but last night at 9.30 the Gardai closed the Luas line at the Bus Aras stop due to a crime scene, they also closed a lot of the roads around Connolly station including around the entrance to the station and I presume the Luas tracks.

What happens the trams that are serving the docklands? Do the Gardai open up a line through the crime scene as a once off to allow trams to return to the red cow depot or are they just stopped down in the Docklands over night? Hardly the safest place for them? Just curious as I am sure the same happened last year with fire on Benburb st, the Gardai closed the line and the road and I am sure there were Trams servicing the city and docklands at the time and the road/line wasn't reopened for nearly a week here. Just curious what Luas did with these trams, do they send security and cleaners down etc. or do the Gardai let then past on a once off but still potentially contaminating a crime scene like last night maybe crushing a fired bullet.

Expect trams would of being allowed pass at some point when a preliminary examination was carried out.

My outbound Luas at midnight last night was still leaving from Abbey St. and there were the final two/three lined up on either platform. I didn't see anything returning out of service from beyond Busaras. I presume the driver/employees would be insured to take the Luas back/past the blockage

There is precedence of stabling trams overnightat Abbey street during disruption, fenced off and guarded all night though.

In this situation they probably could have stabled the trams left behind at Connolly to run a minimal Connolly-Point service the next morning, but it may have been too late to organise security, also they probably had no idea how long the closure at Store St would last. I'd say they were probably allowed pass following initial examination of the area.

Once BXD opens there would be the option of routing some trams to the D depot as long as the disruption was west of O'Connell Street. No help in this case of course.
