    Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has applied for October 2013 Post Primary cohort. I've my interview next Monday and a little nervous. Has anyone had the interview yet? Interviews are structured differently from before. More subject specific I think.

Any replies/ advice would be greatly appreciated :)

    Sinead.

Hey, I had my interview there about 3 weeks ago. Basically its divided into two parts-a general interview and a subject specific one. I had my general interview first and they asked me how I prepared, why I wanted to be a teacher, opportunities and obstacles of teaching, if I thought there were any jobs for teachers in Ireland, communicating with students, parents and other teachers and use of technology. The subject specific one, I found was a bit harder. My two subjects were Geography and History and I was asked my favourite part of both and to explain why. I was asked if I had six weeks to teach transition year students one section of Geography how would I go about it. I was asked again about the importance of technology in the classroom and how I could integrate my two subjects. I was very nervous, but the interviewers are very nice people and I think its important to just stay calm and answer what they are asking. I got stuck on a couple of my questions but they were very encouraging and helpful. Best of luck! :)

    Hi LDenning,

Thanks so much for your post. It's very helpful as I'm sitting here writing out questions at the moment and there are a few you've mentioned that I wouldn't have thought of.
Have you heard back from them?

No problem, happy I could help. :)
Yeah, I heard back from them about 2 weeks after the interview to say I'd gotten a place. :)
