    Hi
I'm told the gearbox mount is gone on my 2005 tdi caddy

I was also told its usually only the rubber that goes

Does anyone know where exactly this mount is(not a mechanic!) and could I use liquid rubber on it and let it set?(also suggested to me!)

Any pics would be very helpful,
    Much appreciated
    Thanks

    Liquid rubber will not work.
Look up your car on a site and price the mount.

Is this the rubber seal at the outside of the gearbox held by a plate cover ? I think I have the same problem at the minute, I have oil dripping from the rubber. Did you replace the rubber or the complete mount/cover plate ? And if so what cost ?

I did mine a few months ago, the rear one, There's an upper and lower one and should be replaced together. They are mounted in the front crossmember, this is bolted at the rear to them.

Be warned, it's a job for a press though as they're a b@st@rd to get in.
Save yourself some time and remove the crossmember from the start. It's only a 2/3 hour job though.

    * above links are for pictures only, I just used the site a previous poster had used, check they're the right parts before ordering.

I ordered the parts I needed from VW on Monday and picked them up today, I then went to the motor factors for gear oil. My mate said 80/90 would do the job but in the motor factor they told me more likely 75w90.

Any opinions/recommendation on correct oil ? I don't have an owners manual and I'm awaiting a call back from VW dealer.

Just make sure you put enough oil in, pretty sure I read somewhere that the oil filler on the side doesn't let enough oil in
