A massive fire has forced the closure of Kenya's main airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.
The fire at east Africa's busiest airport started at around 5am (3am Irish time).
Huge plumes of black smoke billowed from the airport buildings, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
After starting in the immigration section of the departure lounge, the blaze spread to the international arrivals area.
"No planes are departing or arriving. Only emergency landings will be allowed," a Kenya Civil Aviation Authority official said.
The transport secretary said he could not give any indication of when the airport would reopen.
The airport buildings were ravaged by the fire. Television pictures showed desks that had been reduced to charcoal inside the burnt-out terminal.
The roof has partly caved in and the floor is flooded with water from firefighters.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Hundreds of passengers are stranded outside the airport, which has been cordoned off to keep the public out.
Airlines are expected to divert flights to other Kenyan airports, as well as to Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.
The fire comes less than 48 hours after a fuel jet pump failure caused huge delays at the airport.
That incident forced some flights to be rerouted to airports in Uganda and Rwanda.
