Maintenance advice

Hi folks, need some advice on replacing a brake cable on Peugeot 1980's road bike. I picked it up second hand with the intention to slowly replace a few parts but the front brake cable snapped so that's ushered in a requirement to replace that first.

The brakes are Weinmann brakes, is there any recommendation for what sort of brake cable I should use with them or will I have to look at replacing the brakes completely?

Any advice very much appreciated :)

Brake cables are generic , you just need to buy "a brake cable".

    Maybe replace the outers too.
