Future Trees Trust (previously the British & Irish Hardwood Improvement Programme) is looking to recruit members for its walnut improvement group. The charity currently manages walnut silvicultural and genetics trials at Earth Trust in Little Wittenham, Oxfordshire, UK and at other locations around the UK, but is looking to expand its work with walnut.

In the face of numerous tree health issues, changing economics and climate change, walnut is emerging as a potential alternative species for broadleaved woodlands.

If you are enthusiastic about the possibilities of walnut for United Kingdom and Ireland, can attend probably no more than two meetings a year and want to be part of Future Trees Trust, please contact Elaine O'Connor, walnut group secretary, at Elaine.OConnor@teagasc.ie.
