Mixed Content Blocking - Firefox 23.0

So by default on the newly released FF 23.0 mixed content blocking is enabled by default.

Which is blocking https://www.boards.ie from displaying correctly by presumably doing its job by detecting non https elements on the page. I had seen this over the last few weeks as i use the experimental Aurora browser which implemented it first.

Some more information from Mozilla https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2013/05/16/mixed-content-blocking-in-firefox-aurora/

I believe Chrome and IE are implementing similar so maybe its a good idea to check it over.

    Howdy cisk,

Boards only supports SSL on certain pages - for now those are the homepage and the authorisation/login related pages (anything with https://www.boards.ie/auth/ as the start of the URL).

The mixed content warning you're seeing on the homepage relates to advertisement creatives (flash files, JPGs etc) that are served over HTTP, not HTTPS. Unfortunately we can't control these creatives, they're served from ad agencies with non-SSL asset URLs embedded into the code. I predict that over time more and more agencies will switch to SSL asset serving as their impressions get smaller and smaller when mixed-content blocking by default becomes the standard across most of the bigger browsers.

We'll keep an eye on it, and if you notice the page displaying funny with missing icons/stylesheets on SSL then please do report that as it's something we can fix.

Can I also report that chrome is doing this also?

The vast majority of the webpages are white, I can't be sure as to all pages but only the front page seems to work right.

*Also just checked on Opera, same same.
I think if you are to update on firefox it effects all other browsers too, but can't be sure.

Chrome has been doing it for some time now. This is why I said that SSL is only supported on the homepage and anything that starts with /auth/login.

In time, as we move away from vBulletin it will become easier to support SSL; this is why the login/homepage supports it (as it's no longer vBulletin).

Hi, I've had this problem for ages and it was such a pain to navigate boards I haven't been around for ages. Found a solution though! Firefox add-on Toggle Mixed Active Content

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
