    The one on dd classics?

I'd check for rust. They don't like missed oil changes either. I note its had a swivel handle fitted to the steering wheel. They are easy to replace so dont let the damage put you off.

Other than that it has marks on the front bumper. They are simple enough to maintain too.

It is a Honda engined one and they are very good but its all down to how it was looked after.

I'd certainly be checking for rust but other than that they are actually quiet good.

Bland as hell mind but it should be good for more miles if its been looked after up till now.

I imagine your mate is just assuming its a K-series engines one. They are better than their reputation in reality.

It's been removed. When I looked at the interior pic earlier the steering wheel had a large compression mark left on it

416 auto is a Honda engine whereas the 416 manual uses the Rover K Series engine. Should be solid enough once it hasn't been abused.

In fact they were the last River to use the Honda engine regardless of what people wrote in their for sale ads.

As has been said that car should have a honda d series engine which is a very reliable engine. If your not sure how to spot the difference between the rover and honda engine the easiest way for someone to check is to look at what side of the engine the timing belt is on. On the rover it's on the left hand side and on the honda it's on the right hand side.

As for rust, the weak spots in these are around the boot hinges if it's a hatchback. For all models other weak spots are the rear arches and the area around the front drains(they are located in front of the floor pan directly behind the front wheels). This area is even more of a problem on later 45's.

Their honda civic counterparts don't seem to suffer from any rust in these drain areas, which could be due to higher build quality standards at Honda's swindon factory. The civic also deosn't rust as badly as the rovers around the rear hinges on hatchback models.
