Hi,firstly I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place.I'm trying to figure out what I want to do in college and I was just wondering if anybody here has any experience with history or English literature in Trinity?

What are the courses like, the lecturers, reading lists, etc and how does it compare to single honors history?

    Thanks,
    Flintlock.

I did English and History as part of my degree in Irish Studies, which was great but had a heavy workload. English and History is a common enough choice, but I'd say it would be among the most demanding combinations across the humanities in terms of the reading you're expected to do.

If you're comfortable with reading large volumes of literature, criticism and non-fiction - it helps if you can read fast but I can't and I did fine - and you find the idea of three plus years of intense study of English and History attractive, they're both good courses. Modules and lecturers are a mixed bag of interesting and not so interesting, but all courses are like that. Some great staff in both departments.

So, in conclusion - not easy, but enjoyable and very much doable if you're passionate about the two subjects and enjoy reading.
