I had one of those as a company car once, nice enough to drive, comfy reliable and great on fuel. If that is genuine it's a good deal. The mechanics on the forum might be able to add more about how that model has fared over the years, but I liked the car even though its very bland.

I think they have a dmf, with that mileage it may go in the next while leaving you with a hefty bill so check if that has been done.

    It's a nice car but I think it's expensive.

I bought a 05 1.6 petrol avensis last October with 97k on the clock for €3.5k, doing around 47mpg at the moment on N roads.

how are you working that out as i find that hard to believe, are you going by the trip computer?

dmf could be an issue, very nice car to drive though

I would be very dubious about those figures, I've never heard of anyone getting that.

probably because it's not possible! big heavy car with a 1.6 engine, you wouldn't get that in a yaris! i'd be nearly surprised if the diesel model made that

Best of luck with it so, my father drives one, his has 180,000 km on it and he has never had a single issue with it, he's had it for about 2 years, the price seems a bit high as he only paid 300 more for his 2 years ago and it's an 07, wesf is right it on the mpg, it returns about 45-50 mpg depending on conditions, which is not great as I get 52-55 from my own 04 5 speed Avensis.

Thanks, your father bought an 07 Diesel two years ago for 6000? That was a great deal. Maybe i am paying too much. It has a great dealers service history and looks immaculate in fariness but i dont want to be getting taken for a ride either.

Looks very clean, mileage is very low for a 7 year old diesel car. It's a UK import so just verify the service history by ringing the garages that stamped the service book.

Sorry, €300 more than that one is advertised at so €6,600 for a 2007 Avensis in August 11, it was an extremely good deal at the time, we could not really believe it, the seller was after getting laid off and needed rid of it. Just to add his was fully loaded as well with cruise and air-con, it was basically identical to that one.

Dunno Colm, on a big drive well away from Dublin in my heavy Saab 9-5 petrol turbo 2l I get about 40MPG when I drive it smoothly (and not hard / fast)

Has the cubby hole rather than the trip computer. Had a 04 one, ran it from 90k miles to 240k miles. Called her Rasputin, as I just couldn't kill her. My mechanic is driving it now. Kinda wish I'd kept it!

Ones with leather seats are rare, but if you can find one, they are super comfy.

Thanks all for the feedback, i am picking it up later today. One question regarding insurance, myself and my wife own two cars. I am the registerd owner of Car A but she is down on the insurance as the main driver and i am the named driver. The opposite is true for car B. Is that ok? are we covered?

06 D-4D, were they not belt driven?

    Looks clean OP! Well wear

MugMugs thanks, this is the later version, actually registered on Dec 1st 2006. It is the model with the indicators on the wing mirror so i think it has the chain.

Generally when it comes to partners, it's seen as okay however I'd be changing them over personally.

Pre facelifted 116bhp D-4D had a timing belt. The facelifted 125bhp D-4D has a timing chain. OP's is the facelifted model.

Got the car yesterday and couldn't be happier, the car is really in showroom condition and he has had it serviced every 5000 miles in a Toyota dealers. It really needs to be see to be believed.

One thing that is baffling me is how to operate the bluetooth. I can connect my phone but cant find an easy way to answer it or make calls. Does anyone have a link to a manual for this model?

I have seen that mpg in mine on the trip but it averages high 30s in mixed driving.

Trip computers in those cars are very optimistic. I used to see claims of 40-41 mpg in a 1.8, when the time came to fill up it was more like 36 or 37 at an absolute best.
