Hi all. Not a big deal but something's been on my mind for the last few days. I work in quite a small office (bout 10 people). Everyone is friendly and chatty. always ask how your weekend was etc.
I am due to go into hospital in a little while to have a small procedure for something I find quite embarrassing.. I need to book about a week off but I know people will be asking what I am up to. I can't say I am just taking holidays as I have almost used all my annual leave already. Any suggestions?

Maybe you are just having a mole removed? I know it doesn't take a week, but ....
Or helping a family member, who is just out of hospital,

"I have to go into hospital for a procedure, and will have to be off for a week."
Make it clear you don't want to discuss it.

Or you can half lie: say it's a wisdom teeth out under general.

Or lie entirely: a family emergency, and you have to go home.

I don't see why you need to fill them in on the details it's not their business, you're taken the week off end of.

i had a similar thing with my work (i needed to get circumcised), and I really just didn't want to say anything to my co-workers.

I just told them I was having a small procedure done, they picked up that I didn't want to say anything further, and didn't ask any question.
