I no longer have any need for my green beret. Anybody want to swap with me with a black or red one? Id even pay a few bob for a dark green one.

Also anyone know where i could purchase a whip antenna like the one on the FFR's?

    Thanks.

I have a black beret, it will cost you though if I was to part ways with it. I'll post a pic of it in a bit for your consideration.

Dark green berets are hard earned and seriously stand for something money can't buy, also I can't see any man who earned it parting with it that easy.

As a former RDF sergeant myself you must learn that you deserve no respect. You must earn it.

If you want to wear a different coloured hat, try ebay.

Almost beats the guy on RTE radio last week being interviewed in Wexford, training the Pikemen for a re-enactment of the battle of Vinegar Hill because "I used to be an instructor in the FCA !"

no... please tell me he didnt say that... dear sweet weeping baby korean jesus....
Actually I remember Pike training on my POTs course, it was slotted in between Horseback Archery and Jousting. I was very good at Jousting. Its a brilliant anti tank tactic, you need to get the lance right into the tanks barrel though, not easy. Im running a course in it at weekends on the beach near my house, all you need is a broom handle and a bucket for a helmet.

He said it alright, all across the national airways.
Anyway, I'd love to do that Jousting Course but my little pony is retired to pasture. (Would a big Ass be okay 'cos I got one o' those!)

Now, where's a mod to put this in mitty land like it needs to be.

    Back On topic

I have an old blue beret that my dad used have when he was a scout master. If you take that as a swap you can pretend you were in the UN!

Uh actually that is entirely plausible. In the 1990s several hundred FCA men spent the summer in the Curragh Camp as extras in Mel Gibsons Braveheart.

Among the weapons and tactics being simulated were Scottish Schiltrons - a type of Pike formation

Apart from Mssrs Gibson and Gleeson everyone else in this pic is FCA

Mr Gleeson was a far better portrayer of The Big Fella than the other guy in the earlier version of the life and times of Michael Collins.

    Apology for thread drift.

    Just for consideration of your offer i mite know where you could get a black Beret, I hope you do not pop on your old RDF uniform and your new black cap and turn it into a PDF uniform and prance around Galway with your Sarges rank {Could be dangerous}
