    In the attachment, half way down the page it states x = -a/2

    Since 'x' equals a negative value (ie -a/2), when this negative value of -a/2 is substituted into the 'x' value why does the exponent for the exponential to the right of it not become a positive value?

    Since wavefunction = De^-ax (as given at top of attachment) when the negative value for 'x' (ie -a/2) is inserted I would have assumed this exponent would become positive rather than remaining negative.

    At x=-a/2, the wavefunction equals Ce^ax and not De^-ax.

    You want the wavefunction at each side to be exponentially decreasing, which is why they have the form that they need do. Does that make sense?
