Just putting this out here to find out if this quote i got is crazy. Ive to do a small job on a chimney, phoned for some scaffold and was getting quoted about 500 euro for just 4 towers, delivered and collected. Ill be errcting it myself! the scaffold company would be about 30 mile away. To me this sounds a crazy quote. I remember doing a job in galway and other parts of the country and the same amount of scaffold only cost me about 100 euro.

I've literally just asked two companies for a qiuote and waiting them to get back to me - looking 17metres for the front of the house delivered and i'll erect it myself. I'll let you know how i get on as all the builders/plasterers i know are using their scaffold this week.

Yoloc, got prices back today. For 17m of scaffold, 10m high i've been quoted £80 and £85 stg a week. one company wanted £40 to deliver and £40 to collect, the other crowd wanted £100 to deliver and £100 to collect. I'm taking the tractor and low loader tomorrow to go pick it up, save myself 160 quid.

Paid €350 for enough scaffolding for 35 bays (5 planks per bay, safety bars, etc) for 5 weeks for a new self-build. Got it off a builder who is doing nothing.
Paid €150 to get it collected and returned (only 3 miles but a good bit of labour lugging all that amount of steel and 175 panks) and €300 to get it put up including 'tagging.' Done nothing myself.

So €800 all in for 5 weeks for 35 bays. If i went with a scaffolding company i'm sure it would have been treble that.

So I am not sure what the board policy is on this sort of thing but maybe the people who gave the original poster the quote should be named here so all of you know to avoid them? Maybe it would even do them some good as they might become aware that they are being discussed on here and it might make them realise they could make more money with lower prices.
