    Hello,

    * Maximum demad (kW)
    * Maximum Demand Charge (€)

    Maybe you can show me through an example calculation ?

    Cheers.

    :confused: What information is on your bill? What exactly do you mean by maximum demand?

    As I understand, domestic consumers are not charged for peak capacity in the same way they are not charged for phase correction.

    Add to peak demand.. Walk around your house and add up all the big stuff that might be on at once..
    Washing machine, electric shower, kettle, fridge while it's compressor runs, electric hob, microwave etc and add say 20% for the rest; TV, radio, PC..

    I am currently using the energy checker tool on the SEAI website.

    Please follow the link below.

    http://www.seai.ie/EnergyMAP/Resources_tools/Template_Energy_Use_Cost_Savings_/Energy_Bill_Tracker_Tool/[/IMG]

    from this link there is an excel sheet.

    Within the excel sheet for electricity i am stuck on the Other Charges Section.

    in the other charges i have the Max import capacity value BUT I cant work out the import capacity charge.

    the same goes for the max demand were i have the max demand value but i cant work out the max demand charge.

    can you help ??

    From the spreadsheet:
    Note: Not all of the 'Other Charges' below are relevant to all tariff structrues - complete as much as is relevant
    These are extra charges that most people wouldn't have in a domestic situation. It's unlikely that you'd be charged for any of these unless you were notified of them by your provider. In any case they should be stated on the bill. If it's not on the bill, you're probably not being charged for it. No calculation involved.

    This is for a business situation, The Max Import Capacity for the office is 15kVA

    i got the Maximum demand of €0.0940 per KW between November and Feb.

    So if i was to get the max demand charge would i multiply the 2 Figures then the answer by the number of days ??

    MIC only applies to industrial, not domestic.

    MIC is the highest KW drawn at one time.

    OK I think your asking a few different questions here.

    1. Max demand is the the highest 15/30minute electrical draw for the month - normally stated on the bill what your MD was for that period
    2. Demand Charge - you pay per subscribed MIC : Days per period * Charge * MIC, this is a standing charge that you must pay as your a LV customer
    3. Exceeding your Maximum Import Capacity and you will be penalized for every kVa over your MIC per time period when exceeded.
    4. If your a LV customer of 15-30kVa bills can sometimes be bundled into a section "Other Charges" - as your such a small user you probably wouldn't get penalized at all unless you consistently exceeded the MIC for long period

    Advice, check all your bills for MD and tabulate them - if your below the 15kVa then no worries. If your well below then look at a change in tarriff. If your above 15kVa you may be getting charged and you will have to increase your MIC to save you getting penalized further (beware increasing your MIC will increase your monthly bill as above calculation)
