Aux In 2008 Nissan Qashqai

I need to have an Aux In installed in a 2008 Nissan Qashqai 1.5dci so I can listen to podcasts in the car through my iPhone.

I think my options are some sort of adapter fitted to the back of the factory radio and brought through to glove box

    or

A new radio with an Aux In connection.

Am I right? If so can someone recommend somewhere in Cork / Kerry where I can get it done? Or an online store where I can get something that fits the bill.

What are the chances of picking up a suitable second hand radio?

(FYI Podcasts won't play over bluetooth and I am not interested in any sort of FM transmitter)

    Thanks in advance.

If you lift up your arm rest, look at the back wall ( for lack of a better word) you'll see an aux in.

Tried that :) Not in my one unfortunately. I can see where it could be fitted, but it is blank with a pull out cover.

No worries, I think they became standard in 2009.

So I bought one of these, an aux input kit for a Nissan:

    http://www.carputer-shop.co.uk/aux-input-kits-c-2/nissan-aux-in-adapter-kit-p-121

The one I got was specifically for an iPhone but you can just get an ordinary aux in kit.

I also bought a little trim removal tool, so I wouldn't mark the dash.

It was very straightforward, plugged it into the back of the stereo, connected the power (no need to cut or trim wires at all).

Then I ran the cable all the way back to the arm rest and brought it through to where the Aux In is in the newer models.

No hassle and no exposed wires, and it works like a dream and can be controlled by the controls on the steering wheel.

(I hid the unit behind the dash on the left using strong adhesive velcro)

The whole thing cost me around €90 and took about 30 minutes.
