I have one of these but my box is not the same and i do not know that box. I have to place it on the floor a couple feet out from the tv. When i had it first it worked beside the Tv. I reckon they did something to signal

It works ok for me i as rarely watch tv

Indoor aerials are hit & miss. The transmission network is designed with outdoor aerials in mind.

If it's such a hit, why did you start another thread looking for info. about 'another box you can get if the saorview box picture freezes'?

It'll depend on what the Saorview signal is like where you mount the aerial. No one here can say for sure as the signal can vary from room to room let alone area to area. Pick up a cheap indoor aerial from Argos/€2 shop/supermarket etc and test it out.

This is what 2RN/RTENL say about indoor aerials
Can I Use An Indoor Portable Aerial, Rabbits Ears?

RTÉNL does not recommend the use of indoor portable aerials. They are too susceptible to localised physical and electrical interference. Terrestrial transmission of television, analogue and digital, is designed and built around rooftop reception.

It will be possible for over 50% of the population to receive SAORVIEW with an indoor portable aerial. However on a house to house basis there are many factors than impact on the effectiveness of a portable aerial. For example the orientation of your house, the location of the television in the house, the construction materials, the insulation materials, the proximity to neighbouring houses, walls and obstructions will all impact reception.

An outdoor aerial, positioned as high as possible, pointing towards the appropriate transmission site, with no local obstructions is recommended and will give the best results.

The thought did occur to me that you might be asking on behalf of someone else. Anyway, I shouldn't have dragged it into this thread.

thanks for the help. In the end I picked up a Technika aerial in tesco ( indoor aerial) but it didn't work. Spent a while trying to tune in channels but no joy.

    very frustrating.

Brought everything back to Tesco & got my money back.

    thanks
