'Prince William charity polo match'

Happened to see this news story earlier. Here is the link ... But to sum it up Prince William played a game of polo for 'charity' (as the thread title says) :pac: Now this is just a random thread. Sure it's After Hours. We like to post shite. lol. But am I alone on thinking what a joke? :P

- You have a man worth millions. A royal family member after all.
- Rather than donating a small tiny percentage of his/their fortune (which would still be a nice sum) He decides to play 'polo' to 'help' people :P
- Yes, polo people. A rather toff 'sport'
- So ultimately, an average Sunday afternoon for him is suddenly "giving to the people" - rather than his hand going into his own pocket.
- and before anyone says "it's his money he can do what he wants" - we're talking about the Royals here and not some actor, singer, etc who made their own fortune.
So the question I bring to you is... Am I alone on laughing at this whilst muttering "what a load of crap" :P

To be honest, a "famous" person will attract a lot of attention, encouraging people to give money.

He might be a member of the Royal family, but he is also an RAF Pilot and earns a salary as such.

British royals involved in fund raiser for British charities, bit of a non story for us really. That said it would have been pretty odd if he hadn't played given his positions in both charities.

The match, in which his brother Prince Harry also played, was the 11th annual challenge game in support of charities SkillForce and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, of which Prince William is patron and president respectively.

The big spenders in the world of advertising hang out at these events. Mr Rolex would more than likely have made a substantial contribution to the charities and many others would have followed suit.

The guy is a soldier too. A certified search and rescue helicopter pilot. Has taken part in rescue missions and several drug raids. Doesn't seem like a bad person.
